HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organizations in the world. In Uruguay, the bank has 260 employees, 8 branches and a clientele of 50,000 local and international customers.

It is the first fully digital bank in the country, which seeks to break with the rigid timetable of other local banks. In 2022, it took on the challenge of moving its headquarters to the 30th floor of Tower 4 of the World Trade Center in Montevideo, in a new type of business office that offers greater flexibility to its employees, both in working hours and in the layout of the space. This headquarters has open collaborative spaces and no offices for managers.

With an investment of USD 1,500,000, the office is designed to reduce the carbon footprint and meet the bank's highest and most modern standards, matching the group's offices in Mexico, New York and Singapore.

The project

To keep up with new hybrid work trends and meet the group's standard for room integration, HSBC decided to incorporate state-of-the-art technology into its collaboration rooms. The objective was to improve image and sound quality in meetings and enable effective collaboration of employees, including those working from home office mode.

For this, they sought Isbel' s support to facilitate the implementation of a solution together with our partner Neat, a brand of Norwegian origin and considered top of the range.

The project, a pioneer in the country and atypical for its size, consisted of the installation of 14 collaboration rooms, with the implementation of 8 videoconferencing equipment and 6 touch devices, together with touch screen controllers.

Technology to make work easier

The installation of Neat technology by our team met the quality standards of HSBC bank. The perception of collaborators and users about the collaboration rooms improved significantly, considering them to be of high quality and superior in technology compared to the rooms of other companies in the industry.

With the new rooms, it is very easy to hold hybrid meetings between people in the office and those at home or in other locations.

Also useful was one of the capabilities of Neat equipment: Neat Symmetry, which individually frames all attendees in the room so that they are viewed equally and more closely on the screen, so that remote attendees can better visualize each person.

An additional attraction, which generates enthusiasm in those who use the rooms, is the functionality of sharing content from laptops to the screens, via ultrasound, without the need for cables, simply by bringing the devices closer together.

How does the bank evaluate the experience?

Testimonial by Tabaré Aviega, Chief Technology Officer - HSBC Uruguay

"The installation was impeccable, and it went along with all the quality of the equipment. The perception of the users is that they are using quality rooms, and they are trying to take better care of them.

One of the features users are most curious about is the ability to zoom in on the laptop to share content and the split-camera feature in video calls, with active tracking of participants as they move around."

What did this project involve for Isbel?

We presented a complete and detailed proposal, based on planning, project management and joint work with other parties (such as architects). Our solution, with Neat technology, met the quality and functionality expectations established by the bank.

The challenges we faced in this context included meeting HSBC's quality standards and ensuring that the installation was completed properly and on time. Our support from the client's first approach to the end of the project was key to its success.
