Montes del Plata Transforms Its Montevideo Office and Adds Rooms for Hybrid Work

The company sought to facilitate collaboration between those who choose to work from home and those who come into the office, and to shorten the distances between the company's locations throughout the country.
Context
Montes del Plata is a forestry and industrial company that encompasses a production chain in Uruguay employing more than 6,500 people and working with more than 2,000 suppliers. Each year it produces 1.4 million tons of cellulose, and its products represent the equivalent of 8.3% of the country's goods exports.
Its Eucalyptus plantations are distributed across 13 departments, and it has an industrial complex, a nursery, a logistics terminal, and offices in Colonia, Durazno, Paysandu, Rio Negro, and Montevideo. Additionally, it is the largest private generator of clean and renewable energy in Uruguay, accounting for 9% of the national total.
In 2023, it renovated its Montevideo offices in tower 3 of the World Trade Center complex, incorporating the open-office concept with collaborative spaces, an expanded dining area, and the addition of 4 videoconference rooms to complement the 3 already in place.
The Project
The company sought to facilitate collaboration between those who choose to work from home and those who come into the office, and to shorten the distances between the company's locations throughout the country.
To achieve this, Montes del Plata entrusted us with the project, and together with our partner Neat, a Norwegian-origin brand, we installed image and sound infrastructure that detects, enlarges, and follows all meeting room participants in close-up, regardless of their position. At the same time, the equipment design preserves the aesthetic lines of the new workspaces.
Neat systems integrate natively with Microsoft Teams, enabling a seamless integration with the collaboration and communications platform that Montes del Plata was already using.
This improves image and sound quality in meetings and facilitates interaction among participants.
What Has the Experience Been Like?
Javier Cairus, IT Infrastructure Project Manager at Montes del Plata, highlighted the "simplicity at the time of installation, configuration, and use; everything is straightforward, with exactly the right options."
Regarding the adoption of the new tools, Cairus noted: "It took an adjustment period in the usage flow on the part of employees and in configuring it according to their requirements (camera position, focus mode, etc.), but the video and audio quality, as well as the simplicity of the setup, has been very positive."
Finally, regarding working together with Isbel, he considered it "a highly dedicated team that gives everything within their reach to navigate complex situations and achieve successful outcomes." He also highlighted that having "defined processes for the entire lifecycle of a project reflects the maturity of the company."
