Isbel at MWC 2025

The Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona once again demonstrated why it remains the most influential event in the telecommunications industry. With over 109,000 attendees and 2,900 exhibitors, this edition set the course for the next transformation in connectivity, artificial intelligence, and network innovation. At Isbel, we are proud to have participated, exchanging ideas with sector leaders, partners, and innovative companies.

What did MWC 2025 leave us with? We spoke with Pablo Bertrand, Presales Engineer for Telcos, and he shared the key trends he observed in Barcelona that may shape the future of telcos:

  1. AI as the Industry's Central Axis Artificial intelligence was the event's leading topic. From network automation to advanced customer service models, operators are integrating AI to optimize performance and enhance the user experience, with technology that essentially consists of verticalizing the well-known chatbots whose surge we have observed in recent years.

  2. Open RAN Transforming Infrastructure The Open RAN ecosystem continues to expand, enabling greater flexibility and interoperability among different providers.

  3. Network APIs and Opengateway The growth of network APIs is facilitating real-time access to network capabilities, driving new business models and digital services. This emerges as a genuine alternative for transforming the Telco business, aiming to capture the value generated by their infrastructure.

  4. Post-Quantum Security for Telecommunications Cybersecurity remains a priority, and the industry is now preparing for the post-quantum era. Several companies presented quantum-safe encryption solutions, a key measure to protect networks and data against future threats.

  5. Sustainable Networks and Energy Efficiency Operators are prioritizing carbon footprint reduction and the use of renewable energy. AI aims to play a key role in reducing energy consumption through technologies such as the widely discussed AI-RAN, which enables optimized resource allocation, dynamic transmission power adjustment, and consumption reduction through traffic prediction and load balancing.

  6. Private 5G Expansion and the B2B Market The B2B telecommunications market is projected at 400 billion dollars, driven by private 5G networks and advanced enterprise IoT solutions.

Looking Ahead At Isbel, we are enthusiastic about these advances and the opportunities they create for our clients and partners. We remain committed to innovation, efficiency, and sustainability in telecommunications.

What are your thoughts on these trends? Let us connect and discuss how we can address this technological evolution together.
